chromatose
[krom-uh-tohs]
adjective
1. a state of gleeful overwhelm by color
2. affected with or characterized by chroma
Ok I may have just totally made that word up, but still, consider us here at STRUKTR seriously chromatose because we're in awe of the The Saguaro's fresh coat of color. The insta-famous modernist, Palm Springs landmark hotel is looking more spectacular than ever thanks to a fresh paint job just completed this fall. Get the best views of its bright new look from the hotel's fire pits, or while playing a poolside game of the Saguaro's signature giant Jenga.
What Are The Sagauro's Signature Colors?
The fresh coat of pure eye-popping color completely renews the hotel's signature color palette which was inspired by 14 desert wildflowers and plants; all of which are native to the Colorado Desert of California’s Coachella Valley. I've kind of got a thing for historic architecture so the fact that the hotel once again looks as it was envisioned by its original architects, Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat, is very cool. "When we were commissioned to design the Saguaro, it seemed only natural to use the colors of the desert, the indigenous wildflowers that bloom every year, to bring joy of color back to Palm Springs,” said Stamberg. Our friends, the color experts at Dunn-Edwards Paints, partnered with the Saguaro, enabling the hotel to match the original hues.
A Year of Refresh At The Saguaro
The color refresh completes a year of renewal for the hotel property. In fact, the Saguaro's also completed extensive updates to its social spaces and meeting areas, which includes the addition of the Sago Terrace that overlooks the hotel’s courtyard and swimming pool. The terrace is a pretty awesome space - it's where we cooled down with a with a custom craft cocktail after biking our way through Modernism Week's Door Tour.
